Denver Circuit Judge Carlos F. Lucero was appointed to the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit by President Clinton June 30, 1995. He was born November 23, 1940, in Antonito, Colorado. Judge Lucero received a B.A. degree from Adams State College, where he was the editor of The South Coloradan, and a J.D. degree from the George Washington University Law School in 1964.

Freshwater Project International is hosting an upcoming event on September 30th at Golden High School from 3:00pm-5:00pm. Last year, they had 150 enthusiastic walkers and others who donated, sponsored and supported their efforts; there was beautiful fall weather, great live music, a wonderful location at Golden High School and more than $7000 raised to provide clean water, safe sanitation and hygiene education to 5 schools in rural Malawi.

Sarah Chayes is a senior associate in the Democracy and Rule of Law Program and the South Asia Program at the Carnegie Endowment. Formerly special adviser to the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, she is an expert in South Asia policy, kleptocracy and anti-corruption, and civil-military relations. She is working on correlations between acute public corruption and the rise of militant extremism. Chayes is author of Thieves of State: Why Corruption Threatens Global Security
