About the Speakers:
Ambassador Christopher R. Hill is the Chief Advisor to the Chancellor on Global Engagement at DU and author of Outpost: Life on the Frontlines of American Diplomacy: A Memoir. He is a former career diplomat, four-time ambassador (Iraq, the Republic of Korea, Poland and the Republic of Macedonia), and served as Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs.
Richard Mueller was a 32-year career U.S. diplomat. He served at senior levels under Secretary George Schultz and Secretary Baker. Earlier he worked for Secretary Kissinger. He specialized in Asian and Chinese affairs, with postings in Canberra, Saigon, Taiwan, and Beijing in the 1970’s and serving as American Consul General in Hong Kong, 1993-1996.
Suisheng Zhao is Professor and Director of the Center for China-US Cooperation at Josef Korbel School of International Studies, University of Denver, and the founder and editor of the Journal of
Contemporary China. Professor Zhao’ has published widely on US-China relations, Chinese foreign policy and domestic politics as well as Asian regional issues.
