Resilience Series Session #4: Solidarity, Not Aid: Supporting Community Resilience in the age of the International NGO

February 13 @ 9:30 am - 1:00 pm

$35 – $60

International Aid has systemically disempowered some of the very communities they come to serve. Are our organizations walking the talk, or are we perpetuating systems of inequity, creating dependence on western governance and capital?

This workshop will explore guiding principles for engaging in community development in solidarity, not aid. We’ll offer practical tools for supporting and cultivating resilient communities.

We will share examples and experiences from our work and process how we might shift our approach toward personal and organizational solidarity, leading to better relationships and a more sustainable impact.

The workshop will be facilitated by Micha Kurz:
Micha has been a youth counselor, a community organizer and leader. He has spent years in military uniform, and even more years protesting colonial politics. He’s a rabble-rouser, founder of organizations, conspirator of political movements. He’s worked with U.N. agencies, INGOs, Academia and Social Movements. His projects have received funding from the likes of The EU Commission, World Vision, The Rockefeller Brothers Fund, Finnish and Danish Church Aid and The European Endowment for Democracy. He has advocated, sometimes successfully, for policy change around the world. As a cis-straight presenting man, active in solidarity, he’s learned much about how to get out of the way. He practices centering marginalized people and taking leadership from impacted communities.

This event is open to the general public and both in person and online. Zoom link will be sent to registrants one hour before the start of the event.  Registration HERE is required to attend.
