International Women’s Day: Women in Sports (Ticketed Luncheon)
March 6 @ 11:30 am - 1:00 pm$100 – $175
Each year on March 8th, countries around the world lift up the achievements of women in their societies to recognize and celebrate the leadership role that women play in business, academia, government, community-building, and families. Here in Denver, WorldDenver is proud to host the premier International Women’s Day event in Colorado. Each year we feature a different theme and highlight the outstanding women making waves in those fields.
For 2020, our theme is Women in Sports, and we are thrilled to feature Lauryn Willimas, one of only five athletes, and the first American woman, to win medals in both the Summer and Winter Olympics. Her victories include winning silver in the 100 Meter in 2004, gold in the 100 x 4 Meter Relay in 2012, and silver in the Two-Woman Bobsled in 2014. Interviewed by Gloria Neal, local journalist, anchor, and current Director of Public Affairs for Mayor Michael Hancock, Lauryn will share her experiences from competing around the world and reflect on the importance of sports diplomacy.
